曠蕩山川，蒼茫煙水，柴門堆雪盈尺。
此心抱素無求，止止白生虛室。
明窗倩影，正映照、月光如織。
且漫對、幽獨疏花，三弄晩風羌笛。
寄江南、早春消息。念朔北、故人蹤跡。
莽荒瀚海龍沙，牧羝擁氈冰磧。
漢關萬里，盼天際、歸飛鴻翼。
待他年、扶夢蘭橈，轉憶一湖寒碧。

“First Branch of the East Wind”
Vast mountains and rivers, misty smoke and water,
Snow piled high at the door of my humble abode.
My heart remains pure and content,
In this empty room, free from desires.
The moonlight weaves a delicate pattern,
Through the clear window onto the floor.
I gaze at the scattered flowers in solitude,
Playing the Qiang flute in the late wind.
I send news of early spring to friends in Jiangnan,
Remembering those in the north who are dear to me.
Amidst the desert sands and dragon scales,
Shepherds huddle together on the ice-cold rocks.
Looking beyond the Han Pass, I long for the return of migrating birds,
And dream of rowing a boat among the cool blue waters.

白話註釋

這是詠嘆梅花的長調詞作，倚聲《東風第一枝》，東風第一枝，詞牌名，也作曲牌名。據傳為呂渭老所首創，原為詠梅而作。代表作品有宋代史達祖的《東風第一枝·春雪》等。
大雪初晴煙水迷茫的曠蕩關山。在簡陋的木屋門前堆滿了積雪。
木屋裡的詩人，堅守著質樸的生活，心中充滿了祥瑞的空靈。
「虛室生白，吉祥止止」比喻心境若能保持虛靜，不為欲念所蒙蔽，則能純白空明，真理自出。語出《莊子．人間世》：「瞻彼闋者，虛室生白，吉祥止止。」
窗前幽獨疏落的梅花倩影，正映照著明亮的月光。在晚風中，彷彿聽到委宛的《梅花三弄》笛曲。
《梅花三弄》的歷史典故是東晉大將桓伊為狂士王徽之演奏梅花《三調》的故事。《晉書·列傳五十一》和《世說新語·任誕第二十三》裡都曾記載了這段典故。王徽之應召赴東晉的都城建康，所乘的船停泊在青溪碼頭。恰巧桓伊在岸上過，王徽之與桓伊並不相識。這時船上一位客人道，「這是桓野王（桓伊字野王）。」王徽之便命人對桓伊說：「聞君善吹笛，試為我一奏。」桓伊此時已是高官貴胄，但他也久聞王徽之的大名，便下車上船。桓伊坐在胡床上，出笛吹三弄梅花之調，高妙絕倫。吹奏完畢，桓伊立即上車走了。賓主雙方沒有交談一句話。
寒梅初花傳遞的江南的早春消息。此夕卻懷念著寓居荒寒北國的故人心跡。
想起了為堅守節操的古人蘇武北海牧羊的故事。
盼望著萬里之外的歸鴻，帶來故國的消息。
夢想有一天，在碧水連天的南國江湖之中，搖盪著木蘭小舟。

Vernacular Commentary

This is a long song praising plum blossoms, set to the tune of “First Branch of the East Wind.” The tune is named after the poem and is said to have been created by Lu Wei Lao. The famous work is “Spring Snow” by Song Dynasty poet Shi Dazu.
The first snow has cleared, revealing the misty mountain passes. Snow has piled up high at the door of the simple wooden house. The poet inside leads a simple life, filled with auspicious thoughts. “Empty room produces white,” means that if the mind can remain empty and calm, not disturbed by desires, then it will become clear and pure. The phrase comes from the book “Zhuangzi” and means “to contemplate the empty room produces whiteness and auspiciousness.”
In the moonlight shining through the window, the falling plum petals cast their shadows. In the late breeze, one can hear the melancholic melody of the “Three Variations on Plum Blossom” played on a Qiang flute. The “Three Variations on Plum Blossom” is a melody passed down from the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It tells the story of General Huan Yi playing the melody for the eccentric Wang Hui. The story is recorded in “Book of Jin” and “A New Account of the Tales of the World.”
The blooming plum blossoms bring news of early spring to the south, but the poet misses his friends in the north. He thinks of the story of Su Wu, an ancient Chinese diplomat who was captured and forced to work as a shepherd in the far north. He longs for the return of migrating birds, hoping they will bring news of his homeland. He dreams of one day rowing a boat on the cool blue waters of the southern rivers and lakes.
