Behind the Scene of Fragrance of Kiwis: Cheng Yi Supping Song

Note: Fragrance of Kiwis is a Cheng Yi Supporting Song twisted from a Chinese pop song as a gift to my fans who are also Chinese actor Cheng Yi’s fans (kiwis). I cover Chinese Xianxia Fantasy Drama theme songs in my music channel Ariel Tian Music and a lot of Cheng Yi’s fans likes it.
Cheng Yi’s fans call themselves kiwis because green is Cheng Yi’s favourite color and kiwis is called “Qi Yi Guo” in Chinese which combines the name of Cheng Yi and Fu Shi Qi which is the actor’s real name.

Hello Kiwis! I am Ariel Tian, singer-songwriter from New York. Fragrance of Kiwis is a Cheng Yi supporting song I am going to release in my music channel later. There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. So I want to share with kiwis why this lyrics is the way it is.
The original version of this song is called Flower Fragrance which is a theme song of a Chinese (Taiwanese) drama about a story between a super star and his fan. I twisted its lyrics into a Cheng Yi supporting song for my kiwis friends. In the original story, this fan and this super star are reunited childhood friends. I believe that every encounter in this world is a reunion and that’s why I think its original association is meaningful. The only difference is that the original theme song is for a love story but my version is not: It is to express what I want to say to kiwis and I hope it can also express what kiwis want to say to Cheng Yi.
I want to share with you something funny. I was not a kiwis at all when I apply to those Cheng Yi fan’s groups and I just want to share my cover songs at first. But I have to research and remember everything about Cheng Yi to answer the questions to pass the “entrance exam”. Such as:
- What is Cheng Yi’s real name? (Fu Shi Qi)
- What is Cheng Yi’s favourite color (Green)
- List some of his dramas (I watched Immortal Samsara & Love and Redemption)
And now I even know his hobby: drinking tea and sleeping.
I also find out that this actor is very diligent, devoting, and persistent in his acting career when he went through different types of tribulations before and after his success which is a very inspiring story.
Thanks to those exams because everything I knew about Cheng Yi turn out to be inspirations for this lyrics as my gift to all my kiwis friends.
I use “wind and flower“ in this lyrics corresponding with a famous quote Kiwis always share: If you blossom, fresh fragrance will comes with wind itself (你若盛開，清風自來). This quote was originally from a famous Chinese writer San Mao known by a lot of Chinese people.
