昨夜寒蛩不住鳴 (昨夜，秋天的蟋蟀在不停的鳴叫) Last night, thehustle and bustle of the autumn kept screaming.
驚回千裏夢，已三更 (我從遙遠的夢境中驚醒，已是半夜了）
I woke up from a distant dream, it was already in the middle of the night.
起來獨自繞階行 (我起身，獨自一人繞著臺階，慢慢的行走)
I got up and walked alone on the steps and walked slowly.
人悄悄，簾外月朧明 (四周靜悄悄的，沒有人的聲音，簾外的月光朦朧)
The surroundings are quiet, no one』s voice, the moonlight outside the curtain is very blurred.
白首為功名 (我為國家建功立業，留下青史，還沒老，頭發已經白了)
I have made great achievements for country, leaving a good history. Not old, hair is already white.
舊山松竹老 (我家鄉的山上，松樹和竹子已經長大，變老)
On the hills of my hometown, pines and bamboos have grown up and become old.
阻歸程 (我家鄉的領導者不願對抗外來侵略，阻斷了領土的歸程)
The leaders of my hometown are unwilling to confront foreign aggression, the territory not return.
欲將心事付瑤琴 (我想把滿腹的心事，表現在樂曲之中)
I want to express my heart full of heart in the music.
知音少 (可是能夠懂得我的人太少了)
But there are too few people who can understand me.
弦斷有誰聽 (即使我把琴弦都彈斷了，又有誰能懂呢？)
Even if I break the strings, who can understand?
