Florida Governor Signs Bill Requiring High Schools To Teach “History of Communist Atrocities”（附中文）

On May 9, Florida’s Republican Governor DeSantis signed a bill requiring public high schools across the state to hold annual “Victims of Communism Days” and to teach a history course on the “atrocities of the communist regime”.

The bill, known as HB 395, requires the state’s public schools to tell students about the history of genocide, famine and persecution under communist regimes, including those of Communist China and the former Soviet Union.

Governor Ron DeSantis said, “We want to make sure that the people of Florida, especially our students, learn every year about the evils of communism, and the dictators of its regime.”

The bill reads, “More than 100 years have passed since the establishment of the first communist government under Lenin in Russia, and the emergence of communist regimes around the world has proven incompatible with the ideas of freedom, prosperity and the dignity of human life, producing such notorious totalitarian dictators as Stalin, Lenin, Mao and Pol Pot, among others. “

In particular, the Chinese Communist Party, a dictatorial regime, may have killed as many as 80 million Chinese people from the massive famine caused by the Great Leap Forward launched by Mao’s regime, the Cultural Revolution, various political purges and other campaigns.

去年，德桑蒂斯告诉《大纪元时报》（The Epoch Times），中共——目前世界上最大的共产党政权——应该对其处理和加剧COVID-19疫情的方式负责。他认为，在疫情的早期，西方政府盲目地重复了中共应对该病毒的所谓“零感染”政策。

德桑蒂斯在当时还表示：“西方国家通过采取其中的一些政策，已经对自己造成了很大的伤害。事实证明，这些政策不但没有起到阻止病毒传播的作用，而且还对经济带来很大的破坏性。”

关于共产主义暴行史的教学可能将在2023-2024学年开始，对选修美国政府课程的学生进行教学，并要求在“共产主义受害者日”（即11月7日，布尔什维克推翻沙皇后在俄罗斯建立政府，导致前苏联成立的日子）进行至少45分钟的、关于共产主义暴行历史的教学。

佛罗里达州有大量逃离共产主义国家的居民。其中，有很多在1959年菲德尔·卡斯特罗掌权后逃离了自己国家的古巴人。（大纪元）
